Richard Alston – former school teacher and long term partner of the founder of PIE (Peter Righton) – has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for molesting an 11-year-old boy.

The court heard that Peter Righton and Richard Alston’s friend Charles Napier – now a convicted paedophile – would also be present when the boy was abused.

The subsequent police investigation revealed a correspondence of an obscene nature between Sir Peter Hayman and a number of other persons. The papers involved an obsession about the systematic killing by sexual torture of young people and children.

In November 2012, the Mirror reported on Charles Napier who appears to be a central player in the paedophile scandal engulfing the U.K.
…The probe led police to the kitchen of a flat in South London where they found a letter from ‘Napier – who had a child assault conviction 20 years before – boasting of his life in Cairo as a”British Council teacher.
He bragged of easy access to young boys and how he could send obscene images back to Britain in diplomatic bags.(Charles Napier joined the British Council after his 1972 conviction.
(Henniker was Director of the British Council 1968-72).
Many questions remain unanswered including who were Napier’s referees for his employment with the British Council?
The scandal erupted again when Labour MP Tom Watson raised the matter with David Cameron in the House of Commons suggesting a network of paedophiles working in the UK had links to high levels of Government.

He became a Freeman of the World Traders (on the firm recommendation of Past Master Peter Gadsden) in 2000, and progressed through the Company to the Mastership in 2007-8. For him highlights of his year were the Sheep Drive across London Bridge in aid of the Lord Mayor’s charities (the brainchild of his wife Pat, also a Liveryman of the Company), and leading a delegation of World Traders to accompany Lord Mayor David Lewis on his official visit to Oman.

Stuart Laing found himself under a shroud of controversy in late February 2011 when accompanying a trade delegation to the Middle East, led by the British Prime Minister David Cameron, that contained several delegates from UK defence companies including BAE Systems and Thales Group. Laing attended in his official capacity as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Cambridge University along with the heads of other British universities such as Imperial College London and University College London. Objections were raised that, as such weapons and devices of public order control had recently been used by the governments of Egypt and Libya, it was irresponsible for the University to be involved in such a trip.

education (as Chairman of the Council of Ardingly College from 2005-10 and Chairman of the Governing Body of the Marsh Academy New Romney fro 2007-13);
the Church (on the staff of Archbishop George Carey* from 1999-2002;
the Commonwealth Institute and its successor the Commonwealth Education Trust;
the Pilgrims, where he serves as a member of the Executive Committee; and the County of Kent as a Kent Ambassador and a Deputy Lieutenant from 2007-13.

*Ball was not charged when the allegations of abuse against him first emerged in 1993. Instead the police and senior figures in the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), then led by the late Barbara Mills, agreed to issue Ball with a caution.
Peter Ball was not charged and this was done with the knowledge of the then archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey.
Ball proceeded to resign as bishop and went to live in a property lent to him by his friend the Prince of Wales.
