Man arrested after charging iPhone on London Overground

A man has been arrested after using a power socket on a London Overground train to charge his iPhone, in what police said was an incident of “abstracting electricity”.

Robin Lee, a 45-year-old artist, says he was handcuffed and taken in a police van to the nearest police station after using the socket on Friday.

Mr Lee accused a British Transport Police community support officer of being “overzealous” and “ridiculous”. The police force said he had become aggressive after being challenged over the incident.

“We were called to Camden Road London Overground station on Friday, July 10, to a report of a man becoming aggressive when challenged by a PCSO about his use of a plug socket on board an Overground train,” BTP said.
