British children could be among the victims of a prolific paedophile who targeted more than 2,000 youngsters around the world.

Police forces in the UK have begun tweeting the details of the case, known as Project Hydra, in the hope of identifying those affected.

It is thought that a 24-year-old man from Canada lured young boys, between the ages of 10 and 16, on the internet.

Using what appeared to be a live web stream of a teenage girl, the man was then able to persuade the young boys to carry out sex acts, before distributing the videos online.
