Now Tony Blair calls for EU ARMY

The former Prime Minister railed against those who view the ongoing eurozone crisis and current refugee crisis across Europe as the beginning of the end for the continent’s political union.

Writing in Newsweek, the ex-Labour premier insisted “European unity has never been more important” with the EU “never more needed and never more in the interests of the countries that make up” the 28-member bloc.

Ahead of the upcoming in/out referendum on Britain’s EU membership, Mr Blair claimed now is a “moment for the countries of the EU to bind tighter together” as he hit out at those calling for Brexit and who are “forever-looking backward to break the union asunder”.

Mr Blair warned the rise of new superpowers such as China and India means the “global order” is shifting away from the West and that if Britain wants “to play a role in global decision-making” it must remain tied to Europe.

Emails show Hillary Clinton’s cool response to Tony Blair’s request for support

Emails show Hillary Clinton’s cool response to Tony Blair’s request for support

When you are America’s most senior diplomat you know exactly how to handle requests for favours from friends: be polite and show willing but don’t commit and certainly make sure you are never on the losing side.

So when Hillary Clinton, then US secretary of state, was asked to make a statement in support of Tony Blair’s ill-fated candidacy for European Council president she said she was in a bit of a hurry but would “if I get the chance”.

Jonathan Powell, Mr Blair’s former chief of staff, sent a Clinton confidante a note in October 2009 asking if Mrs Clinton would be willing to praise Mr Blair during a trip to Europe, in order to signal that the newly-installed Obama administration thought him a strong candidate.

“I just got this as I am heading for the Belfast airport,” she wrote. “Not sure I could have arranged it anyway. But, if I get a chance, I will certainly say something positive.”

Blair guilty of ‘criminal irresponsibility’ over Iraq war, says Ken Livingstone and I agree

Blair guilty of ‘criminal irresponsibility’ over Iraq war, says Ken Livingstone and I agree

Tony Blair was guilty of “criminal irresponsibility” for launching the Iraq war in 2003 based on the testimony of one discredited local politician who said that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, Ken Livingstone has said.

The former London mayor spoke out as he defended his claim last week that Blair was to blame for the 52 deaths in the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005 after ignoring warnings that the invasion of Iraq would provoke terrorists.

His claims prompted calls at a meeting of the parliamentary Labour party on Monday night for Livingstone to be sacked from his role as co-convenor of Labour’s defence role.

But Livingstone strongly defended his remarks on Question Time on BBC1 last week in which he said that Blair’s failure to heed warnings from the security services about the impact of the invasion of Iraq on terrorism had “killed 52 Londoners”.

He told the Today programme on BBC Radio 4: “I simply told the truth. Everybody knows who saw the website they [the 7/7 bombers] left; they’d actually gone to kill Londoners and give their own lives in order to do that because of our involvement in Iraq. This is the problem.

“Tony Blair was told by the security services when he took that decision this will put us at risk. We started preparing for that. We spent four years of tests and exercises because we knew that terror attack would come.

Tony Blair’s spy chief who wrongly claimed Iraq had WMDs making millions

Tony Blair’s spy chief who wrongly claimed Iraq had WMDs making millions

The former spy chief who provided Tony Blair with ‘evidence’ justifying the invasion of Iraq in 2003 is now raking in vast sums of money, working for accountancy firms, stock brokers, oil companies and investment banks.

Sir John Scarlett was head of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) when former Prime Minister Blair used the now infamous ‘dodgy dossier’ on Saddam Hussein’s Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) to claim the Iraqi leader could launch an attack on Britain within 45 minutes.

Critics of the spy chief say he let Blair’s spin-doctor Alistair Campbell pressure him into “sexing up” the document.

Since leaving the civil service, Scarlett has worked for a string of multinational corporations, including PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and BP, earning hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Blair promoted Scarlett to the head of MI6 in 2004, a year after the invasion of Iraq, in a move many saw as a reward for his assistance in justifying the Iraq War.

Tony Blair finally faces judgement day:

Tony Blair finally faces judgement day:

Sir John Chilcot’s review into the Iraq War will finally be published next summer, having dragged on for longer than the war itself.

Massive delays to the inquiry – which has already cost £10million – had left troops’ grieving families fearing they would never learn the truth about the six-year conflict.

In response David Cameron has told Sir John he is ‘disappointed’ that his report will not be published until next summer and urged him to ‘expedite’ the final stages.

Sir John announced in a letter to Mr Cameron today that the report into the run-up to the Iraq war which cost 179 British lives, would be published by the end of July 2016.

Running to two million words, it will be completed in April and released up to three months later after a team of officials have carried out national security checking.

Sir John wrote in a letter published on the Iraq Inquiry website today: ‘We will complete that work as swiftly as possible. I consider that once National Security checking has been completed it should be possible to agree with you a date for publication in June or July 2016.

‘Judge me’: Tony Blair’s response to being asked if he is a war criminal after admitting he is ‘sorry’ for the invasion of Iraq under false intelligence

‘Judge me’: Tony Blair’s response to being asked if he is a war criminal after admitting he is ‘sorry’ for the invasion of Iraq under false intelligence

Tony Blair has finally apologized for the Iraq War and said the public can judge whether or not his decisions make him a war criminal.

In a dramatic TV interview set to air today, the former UK Prime Minister insisted he did what he felt was right when asked how he feels about being labeled a war criminal.

But he added: ‘Now, whether it’s right or not, that’s for – everyone can have their judgment about that.’

The extraordinary confession comes after 12 years in which he refused to apologize for the conflict.

Blair makes his dramatic ‘mea culpa’ during a CNN interview about the ‘hell’ caused by his and George Bush’s decision to oust Saddam Hussein –  and admits that he could be partly to blame for the rise of Islamic State.

In the exchange, Blair repeatedly says sorry for his conduct and even refers to claims that the invasion was a war ‘crime’.

Blair is asked bluntly in the interview: ‘Was the Iraq War a mistake?’

New emails confirm Tony Blair is a war criminal

New emails confirm Tony Blair is a war criminal

A bombshell White House memo has revealed for the first time details of the ‘deal in blood’ forged by Tony Blair and George Bush over the Iraq War.

The sensational leak shows that Blair had given an unqualified pledge to sign up to the conflict a year before the invasion started.

It flies in the face of the Prime Minister’s public claims at the time that he was seeking a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

He told voters: ‘We’re not proposing military action’ – in direct contrast to what the secret email now reveals.

The classified document also discloses that Blair agreed to act as a glorified spin doctor for the President by presenting ‘public affairs lines’ to convince a sceptical public that Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction – when none existed.

Tony Blair asked to give evidence in IRA-Libya compensation inquiry

Tony Blair asked to give evidence in IRA-Libya compensation inquiry

Former PM Tony Blair has been asked to give evidence to a parliamentary committee investigating the failure to award compensation to UK victims of Libyan-sponsored IRA violence after a reparation deal was struck with late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Westminster’s Northern Ireland Affairs Committee has asked Blair about his involvement in negotiations that led to a compensation deal between the US and Libya in 2008.

US victims of terrorism were compensated £1 billion in return for Libyan immunity from terrorism-related lawsuits, effectively invalidating the claims of British victims who were suing Libya in US courts.

Lawyers for UK victims of attacks in which Libyan arms were used said Blair had “questions to answer” about why they were locked out of the deal amid speculation lucrative business agreements got in the way.

Gaddafi, who was killed during the Libyan civil war in 2011, supplied weapons and Semtex explosives to IRA militants during the Troubles.

Lord Mandelson on Immigrants? We sent out search parties to get them to come… and made it hard for Britons to get work

Lord Mandelson on Immigrants? We sent out search parties to get them to come… and made it hard for Britons to get work

All by design, words from Lord Mandelson back in 2013

In a stunning confirmation that the Blair and Brown governments deliberately engineered mass immigration, the former Cabinet Minister and spin doctor said New Labour sought out foreign workers.

He also conceded that the influx of arrivals meant the party’s traditional supporters are now unable to find work.

By contrast, Labour leader Ed Miliband has said his party got it wrong on immigration but has refused to admit it was too high under Labour.

Between 1997 and 2010, net migration to Britain totalled more than 2.2million, more than twice the population of Birmingham.

The annual net figure quadrupled under Labour from 48,000 people in 1997 to 198,000 by 2009.

Lord Mandelson’s remarks come three years after Labour officials denied claims by former adviser Andrew Neather that they deliberately encouraged immigration in order to change the make-up of Britain.

Mr Neather said the policy was designed to ‘rub the Right’s nose in diversity’.

He said there was ‘a driving political purpose: that mass immigration was the way that the Government was going to make the UK truly multicultural’.

Senior Labour figures have been reluctant to concede they deliberately engineered the influx of migrants who have transformed communities over the past decade.

Blair asked Bill Clinton to write newspaper article backing his bid to be European Council president, Hillary’s released emails reveal

Tony Blair asked Bill Clinton to write a newspaper article supporting his ill-fated bid for the presidency of the European Council, newly-released emails show.

The former Prime Minister wanted the former President to write an endorsement of his ‘personal qualities’ that made him the best candidate.

But Mr Clinton’s advisers warned he would probably say no and that they did not want Mr Blair to have any ‘expectations’ of his friend.

The email was among 7,000 messages released by Hillary Clinton from her time as Secretary of State between 2009 and 2013 after a Freedom of Information request.

More than 50,000 emails are gradually being made public which she stored on her controversial private server rather than using her official email account.

The email about Mr Blair’s bid for the EU presidency was dated October 29 2009 was sent to Mrs Clinton by Sidney Blumenthal, one of her closest advisers.
