Twilight of the Idols: How Celebrities Kill the Paris Debacle

Twilight of the Idols: How Celebrities Kill the Paris Debacle

You’ve got to love celebrities. They crack you up sometimes. They are able to live in both the rational and irrational worlds at the same time and in the same respect. The first lesson you learn in philosophy or any serious subject such as math is that contradictory statements prove that something is wrong.

Celebrities seem to believe that they are living in a different dimension, where irrationality becomes logical and contradictory statements are reasonable. This never ceases to amaze me.

The Paris debacle once again proves to be a complete disaster for celebrities who pretentiously say that they cherish all life. More recently, celebrities have gone to great length condemning whatever they think happened in Paris. The list of those celebrities is almost endless:

Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ben Carson, Donald Trump, LeBron James, Jake T. Austin, Guillermo del Toro, Kourtney Kardashian, Pete Davidson, Victoria Justice, Rowan Blanchard, John Isner, Christina Milian, Rachel Zoe, Back Street Boys, Mark Hamill, Kevin Jonas, Shannen Doherty, Zachari Levi, Sophia Bush, Amanda Seales, Lelia Broussard, Chris Pratt, Dr. Phil, Blink 182, Carole King, Amy Schumer, Ellen DeGeneres, Emma Watson, Rashida Jones, Chris Rock, Katy Perry, etc.[1]

Listen to Bono here, as he explains the situation:

“This is the first direct hit on music that we’ve had in this so-called war on terror or whatever it’s called. It’s very upsetting. These are our people. This could be me at a show. You at a show, in that venue. It’s a very recognizable situation for you and for me, and the coldblooded aspect of this slaughter is deeply disturbing and that’s what I can’t get out of my head.”[2]

Netanyahu warns of ‘grave mistake’ if France recognises Palestine – Nov 2014

Netanyahu warns of ‘grave mistake’ if France recognises Palestine – Nov 2014

Jerusalem (AFP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Sunday that France’s parliament would be making a “grave mistake” if it recognises a Palestinian state in a vote on December 2.

“Do they have nothing better to do at a time of beheadings across the Middle East, including that of a French citizen?” he told reporters in Jerusalem, referring to hiker Herve Gourdel who was executed by his jihadist captors in Algeria in September.

“Recognition of a Palestinian state by France would be a grave mistake,” Netanyahu said.

“The State of Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people, the only state that we have, and the Palestinians demanding a state do not want to recognise the right to have a state for the Jewish people,” Netanyahu told members of Israel’s growing Jewish community from France.

His comments came just hours after his cabinet voted 14-6 in favour of a controversial proposal to anchor in law Israel’s status as “the national homeland of the Jewish people”.

Meir Ettinger: Far right Jewish activist held over attack in which 18-month-old Palestinian boy was burned alive

Meir Ettinger: Far right Jewish activist held over attack in which 18-month-old Palestinian boy was burned alive

Meir Ettinger started his career in anti-Arab activism in relatively modest and unexceptional fashion. The young man now being designated as the number one Jewish terrorism suspect of Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency would, as a 20-year-old in 2011, go into the shops and stalls of Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda market. He would ask the storekeepers if they employed Arabs and if the answer was “yes”, he would place an “x” next to the store’s name in his notebook. It was a marker for a boycott by fellow Arab haters.

Now Mr Ettinger has become the first far right activist arrested after last Friday’s attack by Jewish extremists in the West Bank, in which an 18-month-old Palestinian boy was burned alive and his parents and brother were severely wounded. The Shin Bet is not saying whether he has been linked to last week’s attack, only that he was taken into custody for “involvement and activity in a Jewish extremist organisation”.

Whether he is innocent or guilty of being involved in the Duma attack, Mr Ettinger has become the face of a violent extremism that many Israelis fear is spinning out of control and beginning to threaten the fabric of their society.

Recent years have seen a spate of hate assaults on Palestinian persons and property and mosques and churches.

Alitalia pilot stuns passengers landing in Tel Aviv

Alitalia pilot stuns passengers landing in Tel Aviv

Welcome to Palestine,” said an Alitalia pilot as he landed in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, causing a stir among passengers and the airline’s Israeli employees, a spokesman for the company said.

“We have not spoken to the captain,” said the company’s spokesperson in Israel, Orly Segal. “But if this did happen it will not go over quietly.”

The incident happened on an overnight flight from Rome to Tel Aviv and touched a nerve on Memorial Day, when Israel pays homage to the 21,540 people killed in Israel’s wars. A beareaved family coming to pay respects on Memorial Day was on board at the time.

Segal said that airline workers in Israel have sent a letter of complaint to the Italian national airline’s headquarters in Rome and the Israeli Airports Authority has demanded an explanation. “One thing is certain, this captain will not fly to Israel again,” Segal said.

A similar incident took place recently with the pilot of an Air France aircraft.
