Breastfeeding has no benefit over bottle feeding when it comes to a child’s IQ, a new study has revealed.
In the past studies have suggested that children who are breastfed have higher intelligence than those who are not.
But new research contradicts that theory.
Scientists at Goldsmith’s University in London argue there is no substantial link between breastfeeding and early life intelligence.
Researchers monitored children who were breastfed alongside a group who were bottle fed, from 18 months old to the age of 16, and assessed their IQs throughout.
At the end of the study, after their mothers’ ages and social status was taken into account, both sets of children had an average IQ of 100.
NASA has confirmed that a massive asteroid will zoom past Earth tomorrow, but reassured the world that it is not a threat.
The space agency has spent the past few months debunking claims that a “doomsday space rock” will wipe out humanity this month.
Now it has confirmed the 270-metre Asteroid 2012 TT5 will speed past the planet tomorrow and insisted our species will live to fight another day.
Despite NASA’s reassuring words, conspiracy theorists claim humanity’s final hours could come between 22 and 28 September.
However, Nasa has given us the all-clear.
A spokesperson said: “NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small.”
Imaginative conspiracy theorists have also claimed the Large Hadron Collider could attract a giant asteroid towards Earth.

Disgraced peer Lord Sewel will not be prosecuted after Scotland Yard said today a video showing him apparently snorting cocaine with two sex workers was ‘insufficient evidence’.
The 69-year-old quit the House of Lords and apologised for the ‘pain and embarrassment’ he caused his humiliated family when the footage emerged in July.
In the film he used a £5 note to snort a powder he referred to as ‘coca cola’ – a name sometimes used for cocaine – from a table and a prostitute’s breasts.
But this afternoon Metropolitan Police said there was ‘insufficient evidence to proceed’ with its investigation and ‘the matter is now closed’.
A spokesman said: ‘The Metropolitan Police Service launched a criminal investigation into allegations of drug-related offences involving a member of the House of Lords on Monday July 27.
‘The investigation, led by officers from the Special Enquiry Team of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, has now concluded.

Drones armed with laser weapons could be just a couple years away, says a California company behind the Predator and Reaper attack UAVs. General Atomics hopes to test a solid-state laser mounted on an Avenger drone by 2017.
The San Diego-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) has already delivered a 150-kilowatt high-energy liquid laser (HEL) to the Pentagon, for testing at the White Sands missile range in New Mexico. They are now studying a solid-state version of the weapon.
“We’re funded right now to develop a laser module compatible with the aircraft and study putting it on the Avenger,” Michael Perry, a vice president at GA-ASI, told Defense One.
Laser weapons are a good deal more complicated than Hellfire missiles, however, with dust, debris or clouds possibly interfering with the weapon. Current tests at White Sands aim to show that the GA-ASI laser can function under weather conditions faced by the drones.
“Before you spend any money on a laser, you better darn well show that you can acquire, ID, and track the objects of interest so that you could put a laser on them,” said Perry. “You have to be able to compensate for aero-optic distortion.”

Time travel has enchanted and intrigued us since the earliest days of fiction, when authors such as H.G. Wells, Samuel Madden, Charles Dickens and Enrique Gaspar y Rimbau stretched and challenged our imaginations with images and tales of men and women who invented amazing machines and devices that could take them back in time, or forward into the future. Because of the restrictions of light speed, and the paradoxes of going back to the past without damaging the future timeline, and a host of other obstacles and challenges, we, in fact, have remained stuck in the present.
Our scientific knowledge and technological achievement has yet to catch up to the limitless dreams of our imaginations. But perhaps just because we have yet to achieve time travel in our universe, in our particular point along the cosmic arrow of time, doesn’t mean it isn’t achievable… and maybe the key is the universe itself. Are we limiting ourselves to our understanding only of the laws and possibilities of our universe, and leaving out of the equation other realities, other universes, with other laws and forces, paradoxes and limitation, possibilities and potentialities, far beyond our own?

The Metropolitan police commissioner, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, has denied his force’s investigation into allegations of a murderous Westminster paedophile ring is a “shambles”.
In his first public remarks on Operation Midland, Hogan-Howe did, however, say that detectives had found it difficult to corroborate some of the allegations of a key witness known as “Nick”.
He told LBC radio on Wednesday: “We will do whatever we need to do to get to the bottom of this. It’s taken a while to get this far but the trouble with these inquiries is often the victims and witnesses don’t have total recall of the information, the detail of the offence, and clearly we have struggled at times to corroborate with such a passage of time some of the things that have been said.”
Scotland Yard has faced pressure over the handling of Operation Midland, its investigation into allegations that Conservative politicians murdered three boys as part of a Westminster-based paeodphile ring 40 years ago.
The force has faced particular scrutiny after a senior investigating officer described Nick’s allegations as “credible and true” at the outset of the investigation last December.
