Seagulls nesting above a crown court are dive-bombing JUDGES

Court officials are having to duck for cover because of angry seagulls who have nested on the roof of a Welsh courthouse.

The birds have set up home at Swansea Crown Court and regularly swoop on passers-by.

Recorder John Philpotts warned jury members at the court about the gulls who he said were trying to protect their young.

“They have already dive-bombed a couple of judges,” he said. “I hope none of you have had the same problem.”

The birds have been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons this month after experts said that seagulls are not getting more aggressive.

A study has revealed that vastly increasing numbers of urban gulls – the population has quadrupled in 15 years – are to blame for a rise in attacks.

Delayed Iraq Inquiry’s chairman Sir John Chilcot ‘spends just 8 hours a week at the office

Sir John Chilcot has reportedly spent just 8 hours a week in the office over the last fortnight – despite his Iraq Inquiry lagging years behind.

The figure has been exposed thanks to an investigation by the Sun on Sunday, whose photographer monitored the door of the inquiry’s grand Westminster office for two weeks.

It’s thought the inquiry chief – who’s paid £790 for each day he works – didn’t turn up at all on five out of the last 10 working days.

On the days when he did appear, he stayed for either the morning or the afternoon before disappearing again, the investigation said.

It’s the latest criticism to hit the beleaguered inquiry chief, whose probe was set up a staggering six years ago by Gordon Brown.
